#ThursdayThoughts
I was just talking to somebody about this earlier and it triggered a blog post. Depression can be an interesting thing (let me point out the obvious -I clearly understand and know there are levels of depression-just speaking from my own experience)
.
It seems that when we are sad or down or depressed we always find it easier to find more sad things to be depressed about.
.
In our conversation this person said:
.
“Sometimes I get crying over sad things. There’s a lot of it when you look for it. Almost have to not think about it”
.
I responded:
.
“Exactly…. There’s a lot when u look for it AND it always seems easier to find the sad over the good. It’s when one can pull out if the sad and find more good to overtake the sad that we grow.”
.
It isn’t easy ESPECIALLY if ones already ‘engulfed’ in it. I understand that, but for my own recent experience, practicing this little practice before letting myself get to that point has been a positive thing!
.
When we can pull ourselves out of those sad obsessive moment and think of some good moments, of positive moments, it’s those thoughts — the happiness we create that helps overpower that sad depression.
.
My goal and my wish for those who can relate to what I’m saying is to force yourself to think of 5 to 10 positive motivational, inspiring, blessed things about your life to override the sad depressed negative overbearing thoughts. To CREATE the sun in the gloom. To create the happiness being overpowered!!
