Missy said it best as she quoted Forest E. Witcraft — “A hundred years from now it will not matter what my bank account was, the sort of house I lived in, or the kind of car I drove… but the world may be different because I was important in the life of a child.” 😍.
This day really made my heart so happy…I’ve teared up a few times and again this photo just took me back through 25+ years of memories
This picture is THE. BEST. I love the personalities in it…the humor…the LOVE!!
Today we surprised my Mom with a ‘Barbara Day’.
Months a year ago I made a #ThankfulThursday post expressing my THANKS for my Mom and all Day Care providers.
I spoke of how I grew up in a day care basically as my mom ran her Certified Day Care out of our home. It was life to me. Friends everyday growing up and then as I was older the kids became like younger siblings (that I never actually had since I’m the youngest in my family). I started working with my Mom 3 years ago and it was a huge eye opener of how much of job it is! My Mom has done Day Care for over 30 years–over 100 kids walked in our home.
My dear friend Missy and my siblings got together and wanted to surprise her with a ‘Barbara Day’, as some of the kids used to say (on the days they weren’t even going there anymore) “I need a Barbara Day”.
We kept this surprise for weeks and she had NO clue…we reached out to everyone we had contact to and we were so honored to have people “send their memories” if they couldn’t come, along with those who came, sharing their memories, photos, the crafts they still had that they did (& their kids did as she has had generations come through her day care), and just spend a “Barbara Day” with her.
She was so surprised and really did feel appreciated and that’s exactly what we wanted for her!!
