Medal Monday⠀⠀
.⠀⠀
What does this mean to me. It’s a reminder of sacrifice. ⠀⠀
.⠀⠀
Yesterday was a humbling day! ⠀⠀
“Embrace the Suck” – was said a few times!⠀⠀
But what really ran through my head was the hours of self-sacfrice I put myself through …the pain…the inconveniences…rain…downpour….sunburn…sores….it was nothing compared to what our service men and women have gone through and have to go through. ⠀⠀
.⠀⠀
❤️ I ran next to 30,000 devoted HEART, MIND, and BODY STRONG people!⠀⠀
💙I ran next to many people pushing wheel chairs. ⠀
❤️ I ran next to a man who laid flat on a wheeled piece of equipment where he peddled with his hands and had someone from behind help break when needed. ⠀⠀
💙I ran next to multiple BLIND runners. ⠀⠀
❤️I ran next to a guy who’s service dog was running the course with him. ⠀⠀
💙I ran next to a double leg amputee in a wheel chair pushing himself through the course. ⠀⠀
❤️ I ran next to single and double leg amputees with medal blades splashing through the same puddles I splashed through. ⠀⠀
💙 Whatever their story —> THEY pushed through the same conditions I did.⠀
.⠀
I may have complained about my poor choice in training, the less than ideal weather conditions, feeling sick, my aches and pains. In the end it doesn’t even compare to the sacrifices made in the past, sacrifices being made now, and the sacrifices that will be made for us in the future. God Bless our servicemen and women!!
