Whether you think you CAN or you CAN’T — you’re right!

So last night I went for a quick run after teaching my two yoga sessions…it was me against the daylight so I only got in about 1&1/4 maybe 1&1/2 mile under my feet. That was completely OK with me the fresh air felt amazing.

As I was running my mind wondered to the thoughts of “wow I can’t believe I actually used to run upward of 13miles at a time….all the way to 18’s, 20+’s and that one time I ran 24miles and that one time 26+ in a single run.

Something Im SUPER proud of myself for doing BUT GUESS where I started…I started with the initial thought of “I wonder if I can condition myself to run a 5k again”. It had been probably 10 years since I ran a steady 3miles AND I was 1 year postpartum at that time too sooo I really wasn’t sure. But I started something. I did a 5k plan and I did it. So after accomplishing that and went for a 10k. After that I thought MAYBE I could do a 1/2 marathon. Then I said to myself THERE IS NO WAY I could run a marathon. Well. I was right. If I kept that mindset.

I was in control. Whether I said I COULD do it. Or COULDN’T do it. I was right. Here’s the thing though. I believed I could. I just had to make that happen. Happen through consistency. Through commitment. Through dedication. It doesn’t happen overnight AND THAT is the problem MANY people have!

If it doesn’t happen fast enough — we say “I can’t do it” and toss in the towel. BUT I believe you CAN! We need to get out of our heads with this need for INSTANT attainment! It took me A LONG TIME to condition my body to run a marathon. No one said start today. Run a marathon tomorrow. *I say* Start SOMETHING today and keep at it. Build up to bigger challenges and goals! YOU CAN do it. You just have to:
