Your Kids & Food!

One of the biggest things I hear is:.

•I don’t want to have to eat differently than my kids.

•My kids won’t eat that stuff so I have to make what they’ll eat.

•I don’t want to make separate meals.

•I can buy fresh fruit and vegetables. I have to eat what I can afford to by my kids.

.

EATING HEALTHY shouldn’t look any different for your kids! If YOU recognize that you’re not eating necessarily the best way, AND you’re now admitting you’re family isn’t either, THAN making a FAMILY lifestyle change is not a BAD thing!

.

Don’t use your kiddos as an excuse to not FEED your BODY right and theirs. To me that’s just saying YOU ARE NOT really ready yourself!!

.

Make *better eating* seem like nothing different. If you show resistance and like it’s a chore, your children will follow! I GET IT. Kids can be picky eaters BUT working together to make meals you all like can become a fun family thing!

.

So the kids want to eat pizza and you think you can’t!? MAKE the pizza at home with them (Quality time– Baby B loves making Pizza with his Daddy) AND get creative with your ingredients/toppings (& just keep yourself in check with portions)!

.

Start making meals together and have fun picking out foods everyone likes and creating meals with it.

.

Don’t sit there dreading the salad you’re eating while your kiddos eat hot dogs and Mac-n-Cheese. Eat together. Get creative. Eat the same/nearly the same. Eat responsibly.

.

I had a rule growing up I remember my Father saying. “Try it once. If you don’t like it I’ll never ask you to try it again. But if you don’t try it you’ll never know if you do like it AND you just may”. Encourage your kiddos to try foods they claim they don’t like (most likely because they’ve never had it and are just unsure). If they really refuse to try it than don’t force it but just lead by example and eat/enjoy it yourself. Talk about the many benefits and vitamins it offers the body!

.

Lastly. Stop saying you can’t buy your kids healthier choices. I’m not saying you need to BUY ALL the variety of fruits and vegetables out there –> Instead of investing in the crackers/snacks/junk they’re bugging and insisting you buy USE that money to buy a bunch of bananas, bag of apples, or carrots etc. –> LOOK starting somewhere is something!!

I am 35 yrs. old -a Wife and Mother to a Beautiful Boy and my Rainbow Baby Girl. I am a dance and fitness instructor. I own a fitness studio where I offer a variety of fitness classes in the evenings. I recently have become a FULL TIME Fitness Coach after 3+ years of working as a Day Care Assistant after having my Son and leaving my Emotionally Taxing Case Management Position. Fitness is my passion! I love to work out on my own AND with others! Throughout my both of my pregnancies I continued to work out on my own and with Beachbody programs, live my dream of being a work from home mom (for most of the day), and teach at my studio (and other locations) in the evening. After the birth of my son I have worked hard to get my pre-preg. body back. Shaun T's T25 was initial program and then Tony's P90X3 BOTH which I loved the short affective times because with having a newborn baby that was EXACTLY what I needed. I know and understand the self discipline it takes to achieve your desired goals and I am still on that path and have my struggles as everyone else does! I love to offer my support to my clientele with group fitness classes I offer in my community and I feel we work as a team all together to HELP each other. I LOVE offering my support via the web too as I REACH other people that I can't physically see. IT IS AMAZINGLY rewarding and I can't imagine NOT doing what I do! Im currently on my postpartum journey once again and so GRATEFUL and BLESSED to live this healthy lifestyle, lead by example for my family, and support others on their journey too!
