XENODOCHIAL. X. #letteroftheday. Pronounced “zeena-doh-key-ul,”
.
From Greek meaning “friendly to strangers,” xenodochial is a highly intellectual-sounding word for “friendly.” 👌🏻👍🏻😆
.
Ironic that I sit at an airport, in a plane, waiting for the storms to pass and the planes to be able to fly. I’ve met a few -strangers- today and we engaged in a xenodochial manner.
.
One girl was flying to go train in Bobsledding in hopes for the Olympics. Her unique name was Cassiopeia and she had such a DETERMINED mindset and passion for what she does.
.
Second flight I ran into basically a terminal of fellow coaches. It’s fun to chat and hear other people’s journey. Where they’re from, what they do, their experiences in this passion job we have in common.
.
When I decided to look up my ‘letter of the day’ and saw it was X, intially I was going to pick a word that sounded like it started with X (like excellence or excel) BUT decided to broaden my vocabulary 👌🏻👍🏻. What a unique word to define something so pleasant.
.
So as you days goes on — be xenodochial with those you may meet or be around! You never know who you’ll meet or what you’ll learn!
