Who’s ready for a Brain Boost!!??
You have the power to boost your brain health with everyday choices.
•Get physical. Exercise helps your physical condition, by strengthening your heart, to bumping up immune response. But science shows that physical activity also promotes cerebral function. Just by fitting in some physical activity for even just 30 minutes/day can increase blood flow that delivers rejuvenating oxygen and boosts neural activity. Plus, working out lowers the stress hormone cortisol (a depressor of neural growth).
•Get mental. This brings a WHOLE OTHER meaning to my slogan “Head to Toe Fitness.It’s not just physical….it’s mental too”. I refer to Mental Mindset often when talking about living a lifestyle of health conscious choices. Playing memory games and puzzles etc. stimulate synapses. Other research suggests learning a foreign language or musical instrument can help build new neural pathways. But anything that recruits your troubleshooting and problem-solving skills flexes your mental muscle. Even practicing “neurobics” — doing a common skill in an uncommon manner, like brushing your teeth with the opposite hand — engages your mental processes.
•Get sleep. {My own personal weakness I’m working on lol} Did you know your brain uses the REM stage to help encode memories and interpret new information?! Not getting enough sleep can fog your recall and stunt learning. So work on getting some deep consistent sleep!
So now doesn’t that make you want to get physical, mental, and some zzzz’s!!?? Sounds good to me! 👍🏻😍
